Trump Extends Duty-Free Access for Israeli Agricultural Imports

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has issued a proclamation prolonging duty-free entry for selected Israeli agricultural goods until the end of 2026, the White House announced Monday.
Alongside the extension, Trump approved several technical adjustments to the US tariff schedule, impacting multiple trade agreements.

This continuation preserves long-standing arrangements under the US-Israel Free Trade Agreement (USIFTA), originally signed in 1985 and enacted by Congress later that year. The measure sustains reciprocal trade benefits between the two nations while permanent revisions to a 2004 agricultural trade accord are finalized, according to the proclamation.

The administration stated that in December 2025, the US and Israel reached agreements to permanently amend the 2004 agricultural framework and temporarily prolong its terms until the new provisions take effect. Consequently, designated volumes of Israeli agricultural products will remain exempt from tariffs in the US market through Dec. 31, 2026.

The proclamation also authorizes updates to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), incorporating technical corrections and aligning changes tied to other trade agreements, including those with Singapore and South Korea, as well as African trade preference programs and recent tariff measures involving the EU.

It further stipulates that the proclamation overrides any prior executive actions that conflict with its terms and will be implemented according to the dates outlined in its annexes.
